Prashant Kishor, leader of the Jan Suraaj party, called Bihar a "failed state" in a recent virtual meeting with the Bihari diaspora in the U.S. He expressed his concern about the state's deep challenges and the urgent need for all-around development. Kishor highlighted the state's population growth, which recently overtook Japan’s, and described the situation as “hopeless,” with people focused solely on survival rather than progress.
Despite these bleak assessments, Kishor remained hopeful, stating that his party could bring change. He assured the gathering that the Jan Suraaj would win the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. To support his vision, he promised to lift the statewide alcohol ban, using the generated revenue to improve education, particularly schools.
He emphasized that the road to recovery would take time and effort, requiring at least five to six years of commitment to bring tangible results. Kishor also pointed out that the Bihari diaspora, despite being large, has not contributed significantly to Bihar’s development.
Though the Jan Suraaj failed to make an impact in recent Bihar Assembly bypolls, Kishor remains confident about his party's future success. He urged the Bihari community abroad to rally behind the Jan Suraaj and support the party’s mission for change.
