According to reports from Cricket Pakistan, the cancellation came after the delayed arrival of several teams, including England and Australia, who are now expected to reach Pakistan later than originally planned. England is due to arrive in Lahore on February 18, and Australia will follow a day later, making the captains' meet logistically unfeasible. The Champions Trophy itself is set to begin on February 19, with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match.
As part of a hybrid model, India’s group matches will be played in Dubai, with their group consisting of Pakistan, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in collaboration with the International Cricket Council (ICC) will host the opening ceremony of the tournament in Lahore on February 16. The Gaddafi Stadium’s renovation will be officially inaugurated on February 7, and the National Stadium in Karachi will see its opening on February 11. Despite the cancellations and delays, the official event schedule remains intact, and the cricketing world looks forward to the Champions Trophy matches, culminating in the final on March 9, which will also be held in Dubai, should India qualify.
