Government's Vision for Modern Education: In her address to the joint sitting of Parliament, marking the start of the Budget session, President Droupadi Murmu spoke about the significant strides being made to modernize the Indian education system. Under the National Education Policy (NEP), the government aims to provide high-quality education while ensuring inclusivity.
Promotion of Mother Tongue and Language Inclusion: Acknowledging the diversity of India, President Murmu highlighted that the government is promoting education in mother tongues to ensure no student is deprived of learning opportunities. The government has also expanded the number of recruitment exams available in 13 Indian languages, reducing language barriers for candidates across the country.
Encouraging Innovation through Atal Tinkering Labs: In a move to foster creativity and innovation among children, the government has established over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs in schools, giving students the opportunity to experiment, create, and engage in scientific discovery.
Expansion and Improvement in Higher Education: The President remarked on the significant increase in the number of higher education institutions over the past decade, alongside improvements in the quality of education. In particular, she highlighted the inclusion of 163 Indian universities in the prestigious QS World University Asia Rankings. The reopening of the Nalanda University campus has also marked a revival of India's historical educational legacy.
Support for Meritorious Students and Youth Employment: President Murmu emphasized the government's commitment to supporting meritorious students through the PM Vidyalakshmi scheme, which provides financial assistance for higher education. Moreover, the government's initiatives aim to provide internship opportunities for one crore youth in top 500 companies, opening avenues for real-world experience and future employment.
