The title Parasakthi has become the center of a significant controversy in the Telugu film industry. Initially announced for Suriya43, directed by Sudha Kongara, the movie has now been rebranded as SK25 with an entirely new star cast, including Siva Karthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharva, and Sreeleela. However, the title Parasakthi has caused a clash with another upcoming film starring Vijay Antony, titled ParaaShakthi. This movie is also registered under the same name, and a letter from the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce confirms that Vijay Antony's production house registered the Telugu title on July 22, 2024.
The conflict escalated as AVM Productions issued a statement confirming that their 73-year-old cult classic film Parasakthi rights were transferred to Dawn Pictures, the production company behind the SK25 project. The Telugu Film Producer’s Council also weighed in with a letter dated January 11, 2025, confirming that Dawn Pictures holds the valid rights to the Parasakthi title, which are active until January 2026.
This situation highlights a recurring issue in the industry regarding title rights, and it remains to be seen how this legal and creative dispute will be resolved.
