In a heartbreaking turn of events, the family of Pardeep Singh, a young man from Jarout village near Derabassi, is grappling with the devastating reality of his deportation from the United States. After investing nearly ₹41 lakh—raised through loans and the sale of their land—to secure his future abroad, their dreams have come crashing down.
Pardeep, a Class 12 graduate and the youngest of two siblings, embarked on his journey to the USA six months ago with the hope of building a better life. His family, led by his father Kulbir Singh, a small-time farmer, and his mother Narinder Kaur, put everything on the line to make this dream a reality. However, the promises made by migration agents turned out to be hollow. With no job opportunities and unable to meet the stringent scrutiny of US immigration policies, Pardeep was forced to return home.
"We were not even informed about his deportation. Our neighbors told us," said Narinder Kaur, her voice filled with anguish. "It’s devastating. After spending such a huge amount, my son has been sent back with nothing."
Pardeep’s story is not unique.
