As Delhi Assembly elections approach, political tensions have escalated between the ruling AAP and the Opposition BJP. The controversy erupted after Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP convener and former Chief Minister, made a comment at an election rally comparing BJP leaders to Raavan, the antagonist from the Ramayana.

Kejriwal referred to the episode in the Ramayana when Raavan, disguised as a golden deer, tricks Sita into asking Lord Ram to chase it, leading to her abduction. Kejriwal used this allegory to warn voters not to fall for BJP's "trap," likening the party to the deceptive golden deer. However, the BJP seized on Kejriwal's misrepresentation of the Ramayana, claiming he had insulted the Hindu religion.

BJP's Delhi President Virendraa Sachdeva criticized Kejriwal, calling him a "poll Hindu" and accusing him of mocking Hindu beliefs. The BJP has also been targeting Kejriwal over the "Sheeshmahal" controversy, questioning his alleged mismanagement of the Chief Minister's residence renovation.

In response, AAP leader Manish Sisodia accused the BJP of defending Raavan and using his name to further their political agenda. Kejriwal himself later mocked the BJP for its outrage, saying that the party had "demonic tendencies" and would harm the poor of Delhi if given power.

The controversy surrounding Kejriwal's comments has added to the already charged political atmosphere in Delhi, with both parties intensifying their campaigns ahead of the elections.
