The assets of the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, have once again captured attention. Known for her political influence, Jayalalithaa amassed a substantial fortune throughout her film and political career. Having inherited the political legacy of MG Ramachandran, she posed a significant challenge to the DMK and left a lasting impact on Tamil Nadu and national politics. Alongside her political legacy, Jayalalithaa was known for her vast wealth, which was reportedly valued at Rs. 913 crore before her health declined. With no direct heirs, her estate was placed under the protection of the Karnataka Special Court following her death.
Recently, the Karnataka Special Court issued an order for Jayalalithaa’s assets to be transferred to the Tamil Nadu government as she had no legal heirs. Financial experts now estimate her assets to be worth over Rs. 4,000 crore. This marks a significant increase in value over the last decade. The wealth comprises not only cash but also major land holdings, with Jayalalithaa owning an extensive 1,562 acres of land. Other assets include 27 kilograms of gold, 10,000 sarees, 750 pairs of expensive shoes, and luxury imported watches.
With all legal procedures now completed, Jayalalithaa's estate, including her land and luxury possessions, is set to be handed over to the Tamil Nadu government. This transfer highlights the lasting legacy of the late leader, both in terms of her political impact and her considerable personal wealth.
