Roshni Nadar Malhotra, the chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to break into the top 10 of the Hurun Global Rich List 2025. With a staggering estimated net worth of ₹3.5 lakh crore, she now ranks fifth among the world’s wealthiest women, marking a major milestone for Indian business leadership. Her leap in the rankings follows a significant transfer of ownership from her father, Shiv Nadar, the visionary founder of HCL Technologies. The 47 per cent stake transfer has placed her in control of Vama Sundari Investments (Vama Delhi) and HCL Corp—both of which are promoter entities of the $12 billion HCL Technologies. With this transfer, Roshni Nadar Malhotra has assumed full command over strategic decisions for the tech giant.
 

This transition not only signals a generational shift in leadership at one of India’s most respected IT firms but also strengthens her position as a powerful business leader on the global stage. With the new shareholding, Roshni now has control over voting rights associated with Vama Delhi’s 44.17 per cent stake and HCL Corp’s 0.17 per cent stake in HCL Technologies. Additionally, she holds voting rights over Vama Delhi’s 12.94 per cent and HCL Corp’s 49.94 per cent stake in HCL Infosystems. Prior to the transfer, Shiv Nadar held a 51 per cent stake in both Vama Delhi and HCL Corp, while Roshni Nadar Malhotra held 10.33 per cent in each. With this shift, the younger Nadar now has controlling influence over HCL’s strategic and financial direction.

Apart from Roshni Nadar Malhotra, several other Indian billionaires feature prominently in the rankings. Gautam Adani remains India’s second-richest individual and ranks 18th globally. Dilip Shanghvi, founder of Sun Pharmaceuticals, ranks fourth in India, followed by Wipro’s Azim Premji in fifth place. Roshni Nadar’s rise reflects the larger trend of wealth transfer and succession planning among India's corporate dynasties. It also underscores the increasing role women are playing in global business leadership.
