India Wins Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI Announces Rs 58 Crore Prize for Rohit Sharma's Team

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a generous Rs 58 crore prize money for the Indian cricket team following their triumphant victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. On March 9, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the thrilling final held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. This victory marked India's third Champions Trophy title, following their previous triumphs in 2002 and 2013. The win further cemented India's dominance in international cricket and added another significant achievement to the team’s outstanding 2025 campaign.

BCCI Commends Team India’s Achievement

Roger Binny, the Honourable President of the BCCI, applauded Team India’s remarkable performance and praised their dedication and hard work. “Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special, and this reward recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage. The cash award is a recognition of the hard work that everyone puts in behind the scenes,” Binny remarked. Highlighting India's consistent dominance in cricket throughout 2025, Binny added, “This was also our second ICC Trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup triumph, which highlights the strong cricketing ecosystem in our country.”

Rajeev Shukla, BCCI Vice-President, also praised the players' mental toughness and consistency during the tournament. “This cash reward is a tribute to the outstanding performances delivered by the team throughout the tournament. The players exhibited remarkable composure under pressure, and their success is an inspiration to aspiring cricketers across the country,” Shukla said. He added that Team India’s victory reflects the country's strong cricketing foundation, built on skill, resilience, and a winning mindset.

India’s journey in the Champions Trophy 2025 started with a convincing six-wicket win over Bangladesh. Shubman Gill’s sensational eighth ODI century played a key role in guiding India to victory in their opening match. In the next game, India faced their arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai and clinched another convincing win by six wickets. A superb innings from Virat Kohli, who scored his 51st ODI century, helped India chase down a target of 242 runs with ease. India’s consistent performance secured their semi-final spot when New Zealand defeated Bangladesh in Rawalpindi. In their final group-stage encounter against New Zealand, Varun Chakravarthy’s outstanding five-wicket haul and a solid 79-run knock from Shreyas Iyer ensured India topped the group standings.

Dominant Knockouts and Grand Finale

India faced Australia in the semi-final, where Virat Kohli’s composed 84-run knock played a crucial role in helping India secure a four-wicket victory and advance to their third consecutive Champions Trophy final, following appearances in 2013 and 2017. In the closely contested final against New Zealand, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma rose to the occasion, scoring a vital 76 runs to guide his team to a thrilling four-wicket victory. Shreyas Iyer emerged as India’s most consistent performer throughout the tournament, scoring 243 runs in five matches at an impressive average of 79.41. On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy were India's joint-highest wicket-takers, with nine wickets each in the championship.

Strengthening India’s Cricket Dominance

With two major ICC titles in 2025 — the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup — India’s success has underlined the strength of its cricketing infrastructure and strategic leadership. Captain Rohit Sharma’s leadership, combined with standout performances from senior players like Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, and rising stars like Shreyas Iyer, showcased India's cricketing excellence on the world stage. As India celebrates this incredible achievement, the Rs 58 crore cash prize from the BCCI serves as a significant acknowledgment of the team’s dedication, hard work, and determination. The victory has once again solidified India’s position as one of the most formidable forces in international cricket, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the team’s next big challenge.
