Gongadi Trisha, the rising star of Indian women's cricket, made history by becoming the first player to score a century in the ongoing Women's T20 U-19 World Cup. Her dazzling 110* off 53 balls guided India to a commanding 150-run victory over Scotland in their Super Six encounter. India posted a massive 208/1, and Scotland was bowled out for a mere 58 runs. Trisha, who had previously shown great form with scores of 49 and 40 in the tournament, has been one of the standout players for the defending champions.
In a video posted by BCCI, Trisha expressed how legendary cricketer Mithali Raj has influenced her game, especially in pacing her innings. "I’ve grown up watching Mithali Di, and I really like how she paced her innings. I’ve always wanted to do the same. She’s always been my idol," Trisha shared. Despite not looking at the scoreboard during her innings, Trisha only realized she had reached her century when her teammates cheered, making the moment even more special.
The teen sensation's family, especially her father, has been a major support system. Trisha dedicated her century to her father, who ensured he was present for her second match in the World Cup despite missing the first. She also thanked her mother for her constant encouragement and support. "This hundred is for my father and mother as I don't think it would have been possible without them," she said.
