The Hyderabad Disaster Response Authority (HYDRAA) has become a central topic of discussion across Hyderabad and Telangana. Established by the Revanth Reddy government, the agency is tasked with addressing illegal constructions on buffer lands that should be preserved for natural water bodies. IPS officer A V Ranganath, who is leading HYDRAA, has quickly made an impact by reclaiming 150 acres of land and demolishing 140 illegal constructions, including 50 multi-story buildings, within just a month.
Ranganath’s aggressive approach aims to restore buffer zones for approximately 185 lakes in the city, with an action plan already in progress. To enhance operational efficiency, a new Police Station dedicated to HYDRAA will be set up, equipped with 2 ACPs, 6 inspectors, and 30 staff members, to handle public complaints about land grabbing and water body encroachments.
The agency’s decisive actions, including the demolition of Nagarjuna’s N Convention in Madhapur, underscore its commitment to tackling high-profile encroachments. With Ranganath at the helm, HYDRAA is poised to continue its rigorous efforts against illegal land use in the coming weeks.
