China has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remarks advocating dialogue over discord in India-China relations, calling them "positive" and a step toward strengthening diplomatic ties. Beijing emphasized that cooperation between the two Asian giants — likened to the 'Dragon-Elephant Dance' — is the most effective path to shared success. In a statement on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning highlighted that both sides have actively worked to implement the consensus reached by their leaders. She acknowledged recent improvements in bilateral relations, saying that exchanges and cooperation at various levels have yielded positive outcomes.
 

Mao further stressed that partnership and cooperation are the only correct paths for China and India, particularly as they mark the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship. China expressed readiness to collaborate with India in promoting stability and cooperation across multiple sectors. PM Modi recently addressed the India-China relationship during his podcast interview with Lex Fridman, an American AI researcher. He described disagreements between neighbouring countries as natural, emphasizing that constructive dialogue was essential to preventing differences from escalating into disputes. Referring to the 2020 Galwan Valley border clash, PM Modi acknowledged that tensions had significantly strained ties. However, he noted that his recent meeting with President Xi Jinping had contributed to restoring border normalcy and improving diplomatic conditions.
 

Following their meeting at the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, both leaders endorsed the India-China LAC patrolling agreement, a major breakthrough in addressing the Ladakh standoff. Modi emphasized that bilateral ties were steadily improving but acknowledged that rebuilding trust, enthusiasm, and energy after a five-year gap would take time. Reflecting on the broader India-China relationship, PM Modi highlighted the shared history of peaceful cooperation between the two nations. He recalled that both civilizations had contributed significantly to global progress, once jointly accounting for 50 percent of the world’s GDP. As both nations look ahead, China’s endorsement of Modi's remarks reflects a renewed focus on strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering economic collaboration. The emphasis on dialogue, cooperation, and trust-building signals positive momentum in improving India-China relations.
