Australia’s latest Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle is set to feature a new face in the squad, with 21-year-old left-arm spinning allrounder Cooper Connolly making his Test debut. The match comes after Australia’s dominant win in the first Test, where they triumphed by an innings and 242 runs. Connolly, who has yet to claim a wicket in his first-class career, will provide an additional spin option on a dry surface expected to produce significant turn. He replaces offspinner Todd Murphy, with Australia opting for more variety in their bowling attack with the inclusion of Connolly and Matthew Kuhnemann.
 

Connolly has shown promise with the bat in his early career, boasting an impressive average of 61.80 in first-class cricket. He will bat at No. 8, adding depth to Australia’s already strong batting lineup. Sri Lanka, aiming to bounce back from their crushing defeat in the series-opener, has made three changes to their lineup. Sri Lanka will also be looking for a strong performance from veteran Dimuth Karunaratne, who will play his 100th and final Test match.
