In a heartfelt announcement on Friday, Indian equestrian Anush Agarwalla revealed the end of his seven-year partnership with his horse, Manni, who will now retire from competitive sport. The duo shared numerous successes, including a gold medal in the dressage team event and a bronze in the individual event at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
In an emotional Instagram video, Agarwalla expressed gratitude for Manni's support, saying that the horse had been central to his achievements, including his first Grand Prix victories and international placements. "Manni gave me my many firsts," Agarwalla shared, highlighting the bond of trust that developed between them throughout their career.
Manni's role in Agarwalla’s rise in the equestrian world is undeniable, with the horse helping the rider compete in prestigious events and reach significant milestones, including becoming the first Indian to compete in dressage at the Paris Olympics in 2024.
With Manni entering retirement, Agarwalla expressed deep affection for his equine partner, calling him not just a competitor but a teacher and source of unwavering support. "You will always have a very special place in my heart. Thank you, Manni. You truly are the best," Agarwalla said.
The 25-year-old rider from Kolkata now looks forward to enjoying many more years with Manni, who will continue to hold a special place in his life.
