Apple has confirmed that its highly anticipated AI-powered suite, Apple Intelligence, will be launching in India in April 2025. This new suite marks a significant step forward for Apple’s AI capabilities in India, which until now were limited to a few features like the Clean Up tool. In a recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook revealed that the rollout will support multiple languages, including localized English for India, bringing features like Writing Tools, Smart Reply, and ChatGPT integration to iPhone, iPad, and Mac users in the country. The announcement signals a more comprehensive AI presence on Apple devices in India.
Cook also highlighted Apple’s growing focus on the Indian market, noting the country’s importance as a key region for the company’s growth. During the December quarter, Apple achieved record iPhone sales in India, with the iPhone being the top-selling model in the country. India’s position as the world’s second-largest smartphone market and third-largest for PCs and tablets makes it an essential market for Apple. To strengthen its presence, Apple plans to open four new retail stores in India, building on its existing footprint in the region.
The introduction of Apple Intelligence in India is part of a larger global expansion, with plans to make the AI suite available in several languages, including French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and simplified Chinese. Cook and Apple’s new CFO, Kevan Parekh, also pointed to the company’s strong performance in emerging markets, with India being a prime example. Notably, companies like Zomato, a leading Indian food delivery platform, have adopted Apple products, deploying thousands of Macs across their workforce to foster innovation. For Indian users, the AI features will be available on iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 Pro models, but users may need to adjust their regional settings to access the full suite of AI tools.
