On Thursday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy invited former Chief Minister and BRS President K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) to join the ‘Praja Palana’ Vijayotsavalu celebrations, commemorating the first anniversary of the Congress government's rule in Telangana. The celebrations, planned at Hyderabad's Tank Bund, aim to be a grand success with active participation from citizens. The BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and other officials have been tasked with inviting KCR personally.
During the event, Revanth Reddy criticized the previous BRS government for leaving Telangana with a massive debt burden of Rs. 7 lakh crore, despite the state's initial surplus at its formation. He claimed that KCR's government mismanaged finances, sold off land, and seized land from the poor, pushing Telangana into a financial crisis over its 10-year rule. Revanth emphasized the Congress government's efforts to correct these mistakes and resolve issues one by one. He urged the opposition to offer constructive suggestions instead of creating unnecessary confrontations.
Revanth also recounted the support from opposition leaders in the past, particularly during the Telangana movement, and stressed the importance of cooperation in the state's development. He noted that the people of Telangana expect all elected representatives to fulfill their responsibilities, including KCR as the leader of the opposition.
On the occasion, Revanth launched the "Indiramma Houses Mobile App" aimed at streamlining the housing scheme for the poor, which will allow beneficiaries to track the progress of their housing applications. The Congress government has already sanctioned 4.5 lakh houses in its first year, with a focus on providing homes to the poorest, including Dalits, tribals, agricultural laborers, sanitation workers, disabled people, and transgenders.
Revanth also praised former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her efforts to empower the poor through land distribution and housing schemes. He pointed out the previous government's neglect of the poor while prioritizing personal projects like farmhouses and party offices.
