In a bold move, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that the state government will not accept a ₹100 crore donation from industrialist Gautam Adani to the Young India Skill University. This decision comes in light of the ongoing controversies surrounding Adani, including allegations of corruption and a case filed against him in the United States. The industrialist is also accused of bribing state Chief Ministers, including Andhra Pradesh’s former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.
While the Adani issue has been a heated topic recently, BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) accused Revanth of having secret dealings with Adani, suggesting that the donation was proof of their connection. However, Revanth rejected these claims, clarifying that although Adani was one of many contributors to the university, the Telangana government had no involvement in the controversies surrounding him.
Revanth emphasized that the Constitution allows businessmen to donate, but in light of recent developments, the Telangana government decided to sever any association with Adani. The government sent an official letter to Adani Group, requesting that the ₹100 crore donation not be transferred to the university. Revanth reiterated that Telangana has no intention of being linked to Adani's legal disputes and has fully rejected the donation.
