Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's 2024 election campaign has been marked by resilience, fueled by his recent arrest and subsequent release. This election was crucial for Naidu, Pawan Kalyan, and their political allies, as they sought to regain ground in Andhra Pradesh politics. Reflecting on his past experiences, Naidu has not shied away from expressing the personal toll that the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy administration took on him. In discussions with local TDP cadres, he stated, “I understand that several TDP leaders were tortured by this psychopathic Jagan Mohan Reddy. I myself am the biggest victim of Jagan.” Naidu recounted his ordeal during his 53 days in jail, where he felt subjected to harsh treatment, including surveillance via drones and CCTV cameras.
Despite the inhumane conditions he faced, Naidu emphasized his commitment to rising above revenge politics. “Revenge politics are not my style. If I really wanted, I could have jailed every person responsible for my torture, but that is not the kind of person I am,” he asserted, indicating a focus on unity and moving forward rather than retaliation.
