Veteran politician and former Rajya Sabha MP Sitaram Yechury has passed away at the age of 72 after a prolonged battle with illness. Yechury, who had been admitted to AIIMS Delhi for treatment of an acute respiratory tract infection, succumbed to his condition despite receiving intensive care. His health had been declining over the past few days, and despite the efforts of a team of multidisciplinary doctors, he could not recover and was declared dead.
