India has raised serious concerns with Bangladesh over the growing incidents of violence against the Hindu minority and the rise of extremist rhetoric in the country. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) emphasized that India has been in consistent communication with Bangladesh’s interim government regarding the targeting of Hindus and other minorities.
In its weekly press briefing, the MEA reiterated that India has consistently raised the issue with Bangladesh, urging the government to uphold its responsibility to protect all minorities. The ministry expressed concern that the rising violence and provocative rhetoric could not simply be dismissed as media exaggeration.
In response to Bangladesh labeling the international religious group ISKCON as a “fundamental organization,” India defended ISKCON, highlighting the group’s global reputation for social service. India called on Bangladesh to take necessary steps to ensure the safety and protection of minorities within its borders.
This marks another instance of India's diplomatic engagement with Bangladesh on the issue of communal violence and the treatment of its minority communities, particularly the Hindu population.
