At 52 years old, Dane opened up about his condition in a recent interview, emphasizing the support he's receiving from his loved ones during this deeply personal health journey.

ALS, also referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease, affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, gradually robbing individuals of voluntary muscle control. As the disease progresses, it leads to severe physical impairments, including the inability to speak, eat, or breathe without assistance. Despite the challenges that lie ahead, Dane has expressed resilience and gratitude, particularly for his family’s support during this uncertain time.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is known for its unpredictable and often aggressive nature. It typically begins with subtle symptoms, such as muscle twitching or weakness in limbs, and escalates to a point where even basic physical functions become impossible without help. There is currently no cure for ALS, and the prognosis is often grim, with half of those diagnosed passing within 18 months. Nevertheless, some patients defy the odds and live with the condition for many years. The late physicist Stephen Hawking famously lived with ALS for decades, offering hope and awareness around the disease. Although the average life expectancy post-diagnosis is around 27 months, each case is unique, and advances in medical support continue to improve quality of life for many.

Other main cast members returning for Season 3 include Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, and Jacob Elordi. Dominic Fike will also return in his role as Elliot. However, not all familiar faces will reappear. Storm Reid, who played Rue’s younger sister Gia, has confirmed she will not return, and Barbie Ferreira exited the series in 2022.
