Authorities in Southern California reported a tragic small-plane crash on Thursday afternoon that left two people dead and 18 others injured. The incident occurred when a single-engine Van's RV-10 aircraft crashed into an industrial building located on the 2300 block of Raymer Avenue in Fullerton, California, just moments after taking off from Fullerton Municipal Airport, according to police.
The injuries sustained in the crash range from minor to severe. Among the injured, 10 individuals were transported to local hospitals for treatment, while the remaining eight received medical attention at the scene and were subsequently released.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified the aircraft as an "experimental" single-engine Van's RV-10. The crash occurred around 2:15 p.m. local time, according to officials. Online flight data from FlightAware confirms the plane had only been airborne for a short period before the accident.
In a statement, the Fullerton City Council referred to the aircraft as an experimental plane, a category that often includes custom-built or kit-assembled aircraft.
