Chandrababu Naidu has recently brought to light the difficulties faced by KIA, an automobile giant that established its manufacturing plant in Anantapur under challenging circumstances. Naidu, who played a pivotal role in attracting KIA to Andhra Pradesh, revealed that Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu were also vying to host the company. He described the significant efforts and resources he invested in securing geographically suitable land, water supply, and other essential amenities to convince KIA to set up in AP.
According to Naidu, the Jagan government’s handling of KIA has been detrimental to the company’s operations and the state's reputation. Naidu highlighted that KIA representatives expressed deep dissatisfaction with the Jagan administration for denying them Rs 1700 crore in promised incentives. He emphasized that this denial not only harmed KIA but also set a troubling precedent for how small and medium enterprises are treated, reflecting broader issues in AP’s investment environment during the YCP tenure.
