In a significant policy shift, the Government of Canada has announced that starting spring 2025, job offers will no longer provide additional points for candidates applying for permanent residency under the Express Entry system.
Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Marc Miller explained the rationale behind the move:
“We are taking important steps to reduce fraud while continuing to attract the skilled talent our economy needs. Immigration has always been a cornerstone of Canada’s success, and we remain committed to welcoming the best and brightest to Canada so that everyone has access to the quality jobs, homes, and supports they need to thrive.”
Key Details of the Change:
The measure will apply to all candidates within the Express Entry pool, regardless of whether they currently hold job offers.
Candidates who have already received invitations to apply or have applications in progress will not be impacted.
The change is part of a broader effort to enhance the integrity of Canada’s immigration system while maintaining a robust influx of skilled talent.
