As Adonai surely wills it, House of David has officially been renewed for Season 2 on Prime Video, much to the delight of fans of the epic biblical drama. The series, which launched with a thunderous battle between young David (Michael Iskander) and the towering Goliath (Martyn Ford), has proven to be more than just a one-fight wonder. The show was renewed even before Episode 6 dropped, with the announcement made in mid-March 2025. Showrunner Jon Erwin, who also serves as creator and co-writer, confirmed via social media that filming for Season 2 has already begun. His behind-the-scenes post featured 2nd unit director Kris Kimlin, showcasing a strong production team hard at work on what’s to come.
Season 1 may have ended with David’s triumph over Goliath, but the story is far from over. Season 2 promises to explore David’s evolving relationship with King Saul (Ali Suliman), his complex bond with Jonathan (Ethan Kai), and tensions with Saul’s other heirs, including Eshbaal (Sam Otto) and Queen Ahinoam (Ayelet Zurer). The backdrop of the series remains stunning, with scenes from Gibeah, Gath, and David’s symbolic dreamscapes. Erwin has teased a new, elaborate set currently under construction for upcoming episodes, calling the work “blown away by the world we are creating.”The spiritual and political drama intensifies as David, destined for the throne, continues to serve under a king increasingly wary of him. How power transitions from Saul's House of Benjamin to David's tribe of Judah will be a focal point of the coming season.
House of David is currently available for streaming on Prime Video in the U.S.
