India strongly criticized Pakistan at the 58th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva on Thursday, dismissing its false claims on Jammu and Kashmir and branding the country a "failed state" reliant on international aid.
India’s Strong Response to Pakistan’s Allegations
In response to Pakistani Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar’s allegations of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir, Kshitij Tyagi, India’s representative at the UNHRC, accused Pakistan’s leadership of spreading lies dictated by its military establishment. "It is regrettable to see Pakistan's leaders and delegates continuing to spread falsehoods handed down by its military terrorist complex. Pakistan is making a mockery of the OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) by abusing it as its mouthpiece," Mr. Tyagi said, condemning Pakistan’s attempt to misuse international platforms for its anti-India rhetoric.
India Calls Out Pakistan’s Domestic Failures
India’s envoy highlighted Pakistan’s internal crises, including the persecution of minorities, suppression of political dissent, and harboring UN-sanctioned terrorists."It is unfortunate that this Council's time continues to be wasted by a failed state that thrives on instability and survives on international handouts. Its rhetoric reeks of hypocrisy, its actions of inhumanity, and its governance of incompetence," he added.Mr. Tyagi also stressed that India remains focused on democracy, progress, and dignity for its citizens, values that he said Pakistan should learn from instead of engaging in anti-India propaganda.
Jammu & Kashmir Integral to India: India’s Firm Stand
Reaffirming India’s position, Tyagi reiterated that Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India. He contrasted the significant progress and stability achieved in these regions against Pakistan’s narrative of unrest."The unprecedented political, social, and economic progress in J&K in the past few years speaks for itself. These successes are a testament to the people's trust in the government's commitment to bring normalcy to a region scarred by decades of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism," he stated.
India’s Consistent Position on Pakistan’s UN Tactics
This strong statement comes after India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, also dismissed Pakistan’s claims at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Open Debate on February 19."The Deputy PM and Foreign Minister of Pakistan have referred to an integral and inalienable part of India, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in his remarks. I would like to reaffirm that J&K has been, is, and will always be an integral part of India," he said at the UNSC.
India’s strong rebuttal at the UNHRC 58th session once again exposed Pakistan’s misuse of international platforms while highlighting Islamabad’s domestic failures and its support for terrorism. With India maintaining a firm stance on Jammu and Kashmir, diplomatic tensions between the two nations remain high on the global stage.
