The Indian badminton contingent, featuring top players such as PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen, is gearing up for the 2023 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships. To help sharpen their skills ahead of the prestigious competition, they will take part in a five-day preparatory camp, starting Tuesday in Guwahati. The team is determined to surpass their previous bronze medal finish from the 2023 event and aim for an improved result in the championships set to take place in Qingdao, China, from February 11-16.
Badminton Association of India (BAI) Secretary General Sanjay Mishra emphasized that the camp provides an opportunity for young players to gain exposure and train alongside India's finest athletes. Mishra noted the focus will be not only on technical skills but also on instilling values such as discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the team members, creating an ideal training environment.The 14-member squad, led by two-time Olympic medalist Sindhu and Paris Olympics semi-finalist Sen, will feature other top talents such as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty, and HS Prannoy. The camp aims to foster team bonding and preparation for the challenges they will face in the upcoming team event.
