Priyanka Gandhi, the MP from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency, spoke to the United Democratic Front (UDF) booth leaders in Nilambur on Monday. During her address, she encouraged party workers to stay united and steadfast in their larger fight for constitutional values and democracy. She emphasized that their current struggle went beyond local concerns, extending to the protection of democratic rights and the nation’s constitutional framework.In her speech, Gandhi praised the hard work and dedication of UDF workers, recognizing their efforts in various protests and movements. She credited them with being the driving force behind the party, facing challenges such as police opposition. She underscored that party workers are the "backbone" of the struggle for democratic rights in the country.
Gandhi also criticized the ruling BJP-led central government, accusing it of systematically dismantling democratic institutions and undermining the rights of the people. She pointed out the government's efforts to undermine constitutional values and emphasized the importance of the fight they were engaged in, urging UDF workers to continue their work with pride and dedication.Looking ahead, Gandhi urged UDF workers to prepare for the upcoming local body and state elections, stressing the need for continued hard work at the grassroots level. She expressed confidence in their ability to succeed, citing their past achievements in the by-elections in her constituency as proof of their effectiveness and determination.
During her visit to Nilambur, Gandhi met the families of two victims who had died in wildlife attacks. She noted that the preventive measures, such as trenches to deter wild animals, had been inadequately implemented. Gandhi assured the families that she had raised the issue with the District Forest Officer (DFO) and promised to provide support in addressing the problem. She also called for both the central and state governments to allocate more funds to tackle this issue effectively.
