In a significant cabinet meeting held today in Amaravati, the Andhra Pradesh government discussed several crucial initiatives aimed at benefiting the public and improving administrative efficiency. Chief Minister Babu provided constructive feedback to some underperforming ministers, emphasizing the need for dedication and humility in their roles.
One of the key decisions made during the meeting was the approval of the Deepam program, which will provide eligible households with three free gas cylinders per month. Beneficiaries will initially need to purchase the cylinders, with the government promising to refund the cost within 48 hours. This initiative is set to take effect in time for the upcoming Diwali season, aiming to alleviate financial burdens for families.
Additionally, the cabinet approved the removal of GST charges on certain services. In a move to support the public, the government also eliminated the seigniorage fee for ordinary sand, previously set at ₹40 per cubic meter. This decision aims to ensure the availability of free sand at full capacity for public use, despite its impact on government revenue.
Another critical point of discussion was the government order concerning the allocation of 15 acres of land to Saradha Peetham. The cabinet rebuked this order, deciding to reclaim the land due to its initial transfer being deemed illicit.
