Delhi on High Alert: Leaves Cancelled, Security Tightened Amid Tensions

The national capital is on high alert following escalations between India and Pakistan, as cross-border hostilities intensify under the shadow of Operation Sindoor. Late Thursday evening, the Delhi government issued a blanket order cancelling all leave for its employees, signaling a state of heightened preparedness in the city. Amid news of failed missile and drone attacks by Pakistan on Indian military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and other northern cities, Delhi's security apparatus swung into action. Iconic public spaces such as India Gate were cleared of visitors as police made repeated announcements, urging civilians to vacate the area for their safety. Traffic in surrounding areas was diverted or regulated.

According to sources within Delhi Police, night vigil has been intensified, and additional paramilitary and police forces have been deployed across the city. Security has been stepped up particularly in malls, metro stations, markets, hotels, airports, residential colonies, and border entry points. Every vehicle entering Delhi is being checked as part of a widespread screening effort.
