The annual Greater Washington DC Memorial Day Concert will be held on Saturday, June 22 this year. This year's concert will feature a vocal recital by Vidushi Mitali Bhawmik. She will be supported on the Tabla by Shri Sandip Ghosh and on the Harmonium by Shri Shreyas Ravi. This will be preceded by an opening act featuring an instrumental trio of Shri Kanjonavo Sabud on Sitar, Shri Rounak Bannerjee on Violin and Shri Jay Ahuja on Tabla.
The Memorial Day Concert is a one-of-a-kind event in the DC metro area, because it focuses on the ‘baithaki’ tradition (Lounge style) of Hindusthani classical music. In addition to featuring visiting musicians from India, it also showcases U.S.-based Indian classical musicians and young talents within the community.
