NRIPage | Box Office | Laila: Latest Telugu Movie Vishwak Sen's Film Faces Backlash But Gains Attention Amid Controversy | Get Indian Desi Movie News. Latest Buzz about Indian Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Hollywood & other upcoming movies - NRI Page
Laila, Vishwak Sen’s upcoming film, is set to release on February 14, 2025. Initially, the film had limited buzz, but the presence of Megastar Chiranjeevi at the pre-release event raised expectations. However, a speech by actor "30 Years" Prithvi became the center of controversy when he made remarks targeting the YCP government and sitting MLAs. These comments didn’t sit well with the ruling party members, who quickly took to social media to express their displeasure, leading to a boycott campaign with the hashtag #BoycottLaila. The campaign quickly gained momentum, amassing over 25,000 tweets and causing panic among the film's makers.
In response to the backlash, Vishwak Sen and producer Sahu Garapati held a press conference to clarify that they had no association with Prithvi’s statements. They urged the public to separate the film from the controversy, stressing that a film’s ban can hurt the livelihoods of many people, as millions are invested in its production. Vishwak Sen also issued a public apology, addressing both the media and YCP party leaders, and expressed regret if anyone had been hurt by Prithvi’s remarks.
Despite the controversy, the film’s visibility has significantly increased. Social media trends, even when negative, have often served to increase attention, and in this case, it seems the situation has worked in Laila's favor. The film, which features Akanksha Singh as the female lead and music by Leon James, is now at the center of social media discussions. Vishwak Sen’s portrayal of a woman in the film adds a unique twist that has intrigued many. The controversy has raised curiosity, and now all eyes are on the box office to see whether the controversy will translate into a successful release.
