Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin and starring Prabhas in the titular role, was a massive box-office success, becoming the biggest grosser in Telugu cinema at the time of its release. Following the film’s overwhelming success, a sequel has been confirmed, and producer Ashwini Dutt has shared some exciting details about Kalki 2.
According to Dutt, the second part will center around three key characters – Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, and Amitabh Bachchan. While the first part had several characters and a sprawling narrative, Amitabh Bachchan’s role was significant, and Kamal Haasan had a relatively limited presence, which left some fans disappointed. However, Dutt reassured fans that Kamal Haasan's role in the sequel will be much more substantial.
The film will focus heavily on the dynamic between Prabhas and Kamal Haasan, with Amitabh Bachchan also playing a pivotal role. Deepika Padukone’s character will also have a significant presence in the second part. Dutt confirmed that there won’t be many new faces introduced in the sequel.
After earning over 1000 crore at the box office, the production of Kalki 2 is expected to begin soon, with the film slated for release in 2026.
