The ongoing legal dispute between actors Dhanush and Nayanthara has escalated with Dhanush filing a civil suit in the Madras High Court. The suit claims unauthorized use of footage from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in Nayanthara’s Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. Representing his production house, Wunderbar Films Private Limited, Dhanush alleges that the visuals were used without consent in the documentary produced by Rowdy Pictures Private Limited.
Additionally, Dhanush is seeking permission from the court to file a suit against Los Gatos Production Services India LLP, the Mumbai-based entity responsible for managing Netflix’s content investments in India. The legal action also includes invoking Clause 12 of the Letters Patent, which allows for suits to be filed in jurisdictions where significant portions of the cause of action arise.
The legal action follows previous claims by Nayanthara, who accused Dhanush of withholding permission for the footage's use in her documentary. She also alleged that Dhanush sent a legal notice demanding ₹10 crore for the use of just three seconds of behind-the-scenes footage. Nayanthara has been served with a notice and is required to respond at the next hearing.
