Bridge7, a newly launched Los Angeles-based production company, has secured the film sequel and television rights to the 2008 Oscar-winning film Slumdog Millionaire. The acquisition was made from UK-based production company Celador, which originally co-produced the film with Film4. Founded by producer Swati Shetty and veteran CAA agent Grant Kessman, Bridge7 is poised to develop both a sequel and a television series inspired by the original movie, which was directed by Danny Boyle and based on Vikas Swarup's novel Q & A.
The gripping drama Slumdog Millionaire tells the story of Jamal Malik (played by Dev Patel), a young man from the slums of Mumbai who competes on the Indian quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati and astounds everyone by answering every question correctly, eventually winning a massive cash prize.
