Two Telugu directors Gopichand Malineni and Bobby had two releases - Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya respectively. Both films released this Sankranthi and went on a strong run at the box office.
While both these films are hits, there’s very little to attribute this success to the directors.
Veera Simha Reddy ran more on Balakrishna’s mass appeal and his trademark mass sequences. There’s very little on story freshness front.
Same with Waltair Veerayya. This film also ran entirely on Chiranjeevi mark entertainment. This is also more of an actor’s film than a director’s film.
Both Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya clicked at the box office mostly due to the heroes. The directors did very did little on the story and screenplay end. Neither of these films had novel enough plots to attribute the success to the directors.
At the promotional events, both of them talked big and said they’re delivering classics but in the end, it was Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna who did the job for these films.
