This Pongal festive season, two Tamil biggies indulged in a head on clash at the box office. The two superstars are Ajith Kumar and Vijay as their films Thunivu and Varisu respectively hit the theaters this festival season.
Interestingly enough, the in-form big superstar Vijay has lost the box office clash with his counterpart Ajith, who hadn't delivered a single hit in the recent past.
Ajith's Thunivu has registered the upper hand in the Pongal clash as it slightly pipped past its competition - Varisu at the domestic Tamil Nadu box office.
Thunivu collected an impressive Rs 21 crore gross at the domestic Tamil Nadu box office while Vijay's Varisu slightly underperformed with Rs 20.60 crore in the same market.
Given Vijay's rich run of form in the recent past and his superstardom, everyone thought he would easily go past Ajith who had been out of touch and more so, out of form, but that wasn't to be.
Ajith is super strong aomgst the domestic Tamil circuit and he has unparalleled support from the family audience. This has clearly helped his film now.
